Flourish Australia is looking for an experienced Financial Accountant to join our finance team! Use your industry experience to support the success of our Finance team with a leading, For-Purpose mental health organisation

The position available is:

  • Full-time (76 hours/fortnight)
  • Working Monday to Friday
  • Based at our Support Hub in Sydney Olympic Park (hybrid work from home arrangements available)

About the Opportunity

The Financial Accountant supports the Financial Controller in the production of high quality external financial reports, ensuring sound internal control environments and the governance of activities up to and including the Trial Balance. The position has animportant role in maintaining positive relationships across the Finance Team and with business partners.

The Financial Accountant uses their skills to ensure financial reports are accurate and of a high quality, to support organisational decision making, to satisfy the requirements of funding contracts and to assist the Senior Leadership Team and Board undertake their governance responsibilities.

As the Financial Accountant you will:

  • Assist the Financial Controller with the preparation of high-quality financial reports.
  • Manage accounting processes including fixed assets, accruals/provisions, prepayments, expenditure allocations and revenue recognition.
  • Manage month-end reconciliations and ensure timing differences are actioned in a timely manner.
  • Maintain the fixed assets register.
  • Ensure adherence to all accounting standards, practices and related statutory obligations when capturing financial information and transactions.
  • Assist the Financial Controller to maintain an effective system of internal control through ongoing oversight of key controls.
  • Assist the Financial Controller with financial year end requirements.
  • Other projects as directed by Financial Controller as required.

Selection Criteria

Essential:

  1. Holds a Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) qualification.
  2. A minimum of 2-4 years’ experience in a financial accounting role (ideally an Assistant Accountant position).
  3. Demonstrated sound knowledge of accounting standards and practices.
  4. Attention to detail, good time management skills and sound analytical skills.
  5. Demonstrated ability to work proactively in an autonomous manner and in a team environment.
  6. Experience in using financial systems and excellent excel proficiency.

Desirable:

  1. A personal lived experience of a mental health challenge.
