Flourish Australia has a brand new exciting opportunity for a Community Liaison Officer to join our Queensland teams!
The position available is:
- Full-time (76 hours/fortnight)
- Working Monday to Friday
- Based in either Hervey Bay, Rockhampton or the Sunshine Coast
- Attractive salary starting at $85,000 per annum + Super + Tax-Free Salary Packaging
About the Opportunity
The Community Liaison Officer works in the community with people with lived experience of a mental health issue, supporting their access to Flourish Australia services, and in pursuing their recovery goals.
As a Community Liaison Officer, you will be responsible for fostering and maintaining effective relationships with local service providers, community organisations, and other key stakeholders to enhance service accessibility, integration and recovery outcomes to people accessing the service. In this role, you will be tasked with enhancing the visibility of services within the community, facilitating access to support, and advocating for participants of the program. The role operates under the Commonwealth Psychosocial Support program, which offers psychosocial support to individuals experiencing severe and persistent mental health issues.
As a Community Liaison Officer, you will:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with families, carers, community organisations, local health services, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
- Identify community needs and collaborate with relevant organisations to address them.
- Identify and pursue opportunities for partnerships that enhance service provision and outcomes for the people accessing our services.
- Represent the organisation in community forums, interagency meetings, and networks relevant to mental health and psychosocial support.
- Support the development of the Commonwealth Psychosocial Support program and raise awareness of its impact on the community.
- Promote a positive understanding of mental health issues and advocate for the rights and needs of people accessing our services in external forums.
- Facilitate community consultations to gather feedback from the people accessing our services and the community to inform service development and improvement.

Please note - Successful candidates must maintain a Class C drivers license and proof of comprehensive insurance must be provided when required. You may be directed to use your private motor vehicle when an organisational pool motor vehicle is unavailable. You will receive the Travelling Transport and Fares Allowance when using your private vehicle for work related purposes.

Selection Criteria
Essential:
- Possession of a minimum Certificate IV in the Human Services or Social Sciences fields or professional qualifications in project management, and/or at least 5-years' experience in community engagement or a similar role.
- Proven experience in establishing connections with stakeholders and engaging with communities, as well as expertise in health promotion, public health, behavioural or social sciences, communications or marketing education.
- Be able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of the mental health sector.
- Experience in the provision of education and training to groups of service providers, families and people accessing the service.
- Current Australian driver's licence.
Desirable:
- A lived experience of a mental health issue or a carer of a person with a lived experience of a mental health issue.
- Experience in writing grant applications and applying for funding from external sources.
- Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds.
