Join our growing team in Tamworth - Full-Time & Part-Time Support Worker & Peer Worker roles available! 

The position available is:

  • Ongoing full-time (76 hours/fortnight)
  • Part-time can be negotiated with the successful candidate
  • Based in Tamworth
  • Working a 24/7 rotating roster including weekday, weekend, evening and night shifts
  • Attractive hourly rates equivalent to SCHCADS Level 2 & Level 3 commensurate with experience and qualifications

About the Opportunities

In these roles, you will support people accessing our services who have a lived experience of mental health issues to achieve their hopes and dreams. You will play an important part in assisting people to maintain wellness and realise their goals. 

On a day-to-day basis, you will be required, but not limited to:

  • Listen to and partake in activities that meet the interests and goals of people.
  • Encourage shared learning experiences and support skill development at every opportunity through self-directed learning, information and education.
  • Ensure all aspects of service delivery are provided in consultation with the key worker, are strengths based and person-led wherever possible.
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills, be non-judgmental, be fair, patient, have the willingness to listen, and display empathy.
  • Self-reflect and constantly review work practices.

Please note - Successful candidates must maintain a Class C drivers license and proof of comprehensive insurance must be provided when required. You may be directed to use your private motor vehicle in the course of performing your duties when an organisational pool motor vehicle is unavailable. You will receive the Travelling Transport and Fares Allowance when using your private vehicle for work related purposes.

Selection Criteria

Peer Worker Essential Criteria:

  • A Certificate IV or above in a relevant field OR a minimum of 2-years full-time experience working in the human services field (as recognised by Flourish Australia).
  • A strong commitment to recovery-based practice in the workplace.
  • Understanding of the challenges faced by people with a lived experience of a mental health issue.
  • Understanding of, and ability to effectively use, Microsoft Office and knowledge of data information management systems.
  • Maintain a current Australian Driver’s Licence.

Support Worker Essential Criteria:

  • Demonstrated interest in supporting people living with a mental health issue in the community.
  • A strong commitment to, and emerging knowledge of, recovery-based practice in the workplace.
  • Demonstrated alignment to Flourish Australia’s values.
  • Maintain a current Australian Driver’s Licence.

The Support Worker positions provide an opportunity to develop the skills and experience required for our Peer Worker (Level 3). While moving towards a Level 3 role is not a requirement of this position, you will discuss your career aspirations with your Manager and work together to make a plan for how to achieve those goals.

All appointments with Flourish Australia's Mental Health Services are subject to an NDIS Worker Screening clearance, a National Criminal History Check, a WWCC, previous employment reference checks, satisfactory Australian residency status and other background checks. All successful applicants will be asked to provide evidence they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (including booster) prior to commencement, inline with Flourish Australia’s Vaccination Policy and will be required to declare any private or secondary employment prior to commencement in line with Flourish Australia's Private or Secondary Employment Policy.
