Flourish Australia has an exciting opportunity for a NDIS Mental Health Officer (PCLI) to work within the South East Sydney Local Health District!

The position available is:

  • Based inthe Flourish Australia office in Kogarah
  • Closed-term full-time (12 month contract from commencement with possibility of extension)
  • Working Monday to Friday
  • $90K + Super + Salary Packaging!

About the Opportunities

The Pathways to Community Living Initiative (PCLI) was established to support the transition of long-stay mental health patients into appropriate community-based services.

The NDIS Mental Health Officer (PCLI) will assist with the PCLI initiatives that support and sustain the community transition and living of people with a serious persistent mental illness and complex needs in SESLHD by:

  • Assisting consumers through transitions of care, planning and implementation processes, in conjunction with PCLI and Mental Health Staff
  • Engaging with Community Managed Organisations, primary health care and other government organisations
  • Working with health staff to build their capacity and skills around rehabilitation
  • Project support of the PCLI initiatives alongside the PCLI Team members
  • NDIS planning and implementation

The focus of the position in each LHD and SHN varies. Please read the general position description in conjunction with the Role Requirements for the PCLI program. Successful NDIS Mental Health Officers (PCLI) with be provided with specific performance measures and key performance indicators for the South East Sydney LHD.

Selection Criteria

To be successful in this role you will have a:

  • Commitment to working with mental health consumers within a recovery-oriented framework
  • Strong understanding of and experience working in mental health and the NDIS

You will also possess the ability to work sensitively with people living with a psychosocial disability, their families and carers.

Essential:

  1. Qualifications in human services or relevant field and/or relevant work experience in psychosocial disability.
  2. Working with people with complex mental health support needs in both hospital and community settings
  3. Excellent understanding of NDIS and eligibility criteria as it applies to psychosocial disability
  4. Demonstrated ability to build the capacity of staff, including through mentoring and education
  5. Ability to successfully liaise with service providers and other stakeholders to assist people with psychosocial rehabilitation to obtain the supports they need
  6. Ability to work across multiple sites and environments
  7. Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills and the ability to work independently, prioritise and meet tight deadlines
  8. Highly developed written and verbal communication skills and competence in the use of information technology systems.
  9. Vaccination category A

Desirable:

  1. A personal lived experience of a mental health issue.
  2. Demonstrated experience of working with Aboriginal consumers, families and communities.
  3. Demonstrated experience of working with CALD consumers, families and communities.

All appointments with Flourish Australia's Mental Health Services are subject to an NDIS Worker Screening clearance, a National Criminal History Check, a WWCC, previous employment reference checks, satisfactory Australian residency status and other background checks. All successful applicants will be asked to provide evidence they are fully vaccination against COVID-19 (including booster) prior to commencement, inline with Flourish Australia’s Vaccination Policy.

In addition, as the roles will spend time onsite in the LHDs and SHNs, there are a number of vaccination requirements. These will be discussed with the successful candidates after the interview process.
