Brand new opportunity for a Work Health and Safety Officer to join a large For-Purpose mental health service
- Ongoing full-time (76 hours per fortnight)
- Working Monday to Friday
- Located in Sydney Olympic Park
- Attractive salary package circa $100K-$120K commensurate with skills and experience
- Flexible working from home arrangements are available and will be agreed with the successful applicant
About the Opportunity
The Work Health and Safety (WHS) Officer plays a critical role in ensuring the safe operation of the organisation. They implement defined WHS strategies which identify hazards, assess risks to health and safety, and use stateof-the-art tools and techniques to prevent accidents and injuries in compliance with Flourish Australia’s WHS responsibilities and duties.
The key tasks and responsibilities will include but is not limited to:
- Ensuring that Flourish Australia is providing a safe working environment for all staff, people accessing the service and visitors
- Providing operational assistance and an advisory service to staff and managers in the management of WHS and the prevention of workplace accident and injuries
- Providing advice to senior management on workplace health and safety and injury management.
- Develop and conduct training sessions for management, supervisors and workers on health and safety practices and legislation in the various jurisdictions in which Flourish Australia operates
- Assessing of workplace hazards and risks on matters relating to WHS and injury management
- Conducting Incident Investigations in consultation with workers and management
- Ensuring compliance with WHS legislation in the various jurisdictions in which Flourish Australia operates
- Assisting the Senior Leadership Team and Board Directors fulfil their responsibilities and duties in relation to WHS.

Selection Criteria
Essential:
- A minimum Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety, or willingness to obtain.
- A minimum of 1-years’ experience.
- Excellent communication skills and highly service orientated.
- Comprehensive knowledge of relevant WHS legislation, practices, and standards relevant to the role and geographic footprint of the organisation (view full site list here).
- Ability to develop and interpret reports on WHS issues and provide practical recommendations.
- Maintain a current Australian Driver’s Licence.
Desirable:
- A carer role or having a lived experience will be an advantage.
All appointments with Flourish Australia's Mental Health Services are subject to an NDIS Worker Screening clearance, a National Criminal History Check, previous employment reference checks, satisfactory Australian residency status and other background checks.
