Flourish Australia has exciting opportunities for two General Hands to join our Community Businesses team in Marrickville!

About the positions:

  • Casual
  • Working Monday to Friday (flexible to work around your commitment schedules)
  • Exciting hands-on role covering a variety of operational aspects within a busy environment
  • Based at our Marrickville Prestige Packaging site
  • Attractive hourly rates equivalent to SES Grade 3 $23.23/hr + 25% casual loading
  • Flexible opportunity for students or people looking to get into community services

About the Opportunities

A General Hand with Flourish Australia’s Community Businesses is required to work alongside supported employees, acting as a role model for people with diverse levels of skills and expertise. To achieve this, you will be required to ensure that high quality work is carried out efficiently whilst also ensuring supported employee and business service satisfaction.

These are hands-on and diverse opportunities requiring you to complete a variety of work in areas relating to Scanning and Document Management or Driving or Packaging.

Flourish Australia operates social enterprises and community businesses with the purpose of creating sustainable employment, vocational and training opportunities for people with mental health issues. We work in local communities to help people on their mental health recovery journey.

Aims of the Community Businesses

  • Social: to create a recovery and reintegration pathway for people with mental health issues through various employment activities.
  • Economic: to operate the business on a commercially sustainable basis of profitable growth whilst simultaneously offering employment opportunities for people.
  • Product: to provide a range of commercial industry-standard products that meet the expectations and needs of targeted markets.
  • Support: to increase awareness of mental health issues and to encourage businesses to support the Community Businesses.

Selection Criteria

  • Ability to work empathetically with persons with a mental health issues or psychosocial disability.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to motivate and assist team members.
  • Green Card/White Card (where required).
  • Current NSW manual drivers licence.

Desirable:

  • A personal lived experience of a mental health issue.
