headspace Castle Hill is looking for a Senior Youth Access Clinician and a Youth Access Clinician to join the team! The positions available are full-time closed term until June 2022 working Monday to Friday. The Youth Access Clinician role is suited to candidates who are looking to gain more clinical experience and further their personal development.

The main difference between the two roles is that the Snr Youth Access Clinician role requires 2 years clinical experience and the Youth Access Clinician role does not require the clinical experience.

About the Opportunity

headspace is the National Youth Mental Health Foundation supporting young people aged 12-25 years with their mental & general health care needs. At headspace we provide young people with the opportunity to seek help early by bringing local health services under the one roof, making it easier for young people and their families to find the information they need.

On a day to day basis, the Senior Youth Access Clinician will:

  • Deliver quality, evidence-based recovery focused mental health services including assessments, individualised person-centered planning and coordination, and the delivery of relevant therapeutic interventions.
  • Design treatment plans and relevant interventions to assist the young person to drive their own recovery plan.
  • Coordinate supports with service providers including medical professionals, Government Departments and services, non-government organisations and schools.
  • Provide supervision, support, guidance, and mentoring of students and provisionally registered psychologists.
  • Identifying and implementing community based activities that will support the social and emotional well being of the individual on their recovery journey
  • Offering education and guidance on clinical matters.

Ideally, you will have significant experience working within the Mental Health sector combined with relevant qualifications. You must also be currently registered, or eligible for registration (National or State) as a Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker, Mental Health Nurse or other allied health professional.

Please note - Successful candidates must maintain a Class C drivers license and proof of comprehensive insurance must be provided when required. You may be directed to use your private motor vehicle in the course of performing your duties when an organisational pool motor vehicle is unavailable. You will receive the Travelling Transport and Fares Allowance when using your private vehicle for work related purposes.

Selection Criteria

Essential:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Nursing, Occupational Therapy or other allied health discipline, and eligibility for membership of an appropriate professional body; and eligibility to register with Medicare Australia as an MBS Primary Care provider or an Allied Mental Health Professional provider.
  • Minimum of 2 years clinical experience and have (or are eligible to receive) National or State registration.
  • Are able to demonstrate an in depth knowledge of recovery focused practice.
  • Have a clear understanding and/or knowledge of the concept and impact of mental health in the community.
  • Are able to demonstrate the importance of, and have a clear and strong understanding of, the value of team work.
  • Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Have a high degree of computer literacy, including demonstrated experience with report writing and electronic client information management systems.
