Flourish Australia has an exciting opportunity for a General Hand (ADE) to join the Community Businesses team working with the Goulburn Police Academy!
The vacancy is closed-term full-time ending 31 August 2021 working Monday to Friday. The position is classified at Grade 3 on the SES Award.
About the Opportunity
As a General Hand with Flourish Australia’s Community Businesses, you will work alongside supported employees, acting as a role model for people with a diverse level of skills and expertise. In this role, you will be working in areas relating to grounds maintenance and be responsible for supervising the use of machinery, tools, vehicles and equipment.
In addition, you will work with a crew of supported employees to provide quality work outcomes. This is a hands-on role, suitable for an empathetic and understanding individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Your sensitivity to, and empathy for, persons with a lived experience of a mental health issue, along with your ability to mentor and work alongside supported employees will be essential.

lease note - Successful candidates must maintain a Class C drivers license and proof of comprehensive insurance must be provided when required. You may be directed to use your private motor vehicle in the course of performing your duties when an organisational pool motor vehicle is unavailable. You will receive the Travelling Transport and Fares Allowance when using your private vehicle for work related purposes.

Selection Criteria:
Essential:
- Relevant qualifications or experience in horticulture (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to work empathetically with persons with a mental illness or psychosocial disability.
- Ability to work and proceed with minimal supervision.
- Sound written & verbal communication skills.
- Able to motivate and assist team members.
- Green card/White card (where required).
- To be able to learn a courier run.
- Current NSW manual drivers licence.
Desirable:
- A carer role or a personal lived experience of a mental health issue will be highly regarded.
