Flourish Australia has an exciting opportunity for a casual General Hand (ADE) to join the Community Businesses team working with the Goulburn Police Academy!
About the Opportunity
As a General Hand with Flourish Australia’s Community Businesses, you will work alongside supported employees, acting as a role model for people with a diverse level of skills and expertise. You will complete work in areas relating to grounds maintenance and be responsible for supervising the use of machinery, tools, vehicles and equipment.
This is a hands-on role which will require you to be an empathetic and understanding individual with good communication and interpersonal skills. In addition, you will be rostered according to operational need, hence you will need to be flexible and willing to work when required at any of our Community Business locations within the region.

Please note - Successful candidates must maintain a Class C driver’s licence as you may be directed to use your private motor vehicle in the course of performing your duties when an organisational pool motor vehicle is not available. Proof of comprehensive insurance must be provided when required. You will receive payment of the Travelling Transport and Fares Allowance when using your private vehicle for work-related purposes.

Selection Criteria:
- Relevant qualifications or experience in horticulture (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to work empathetically with persons with a mental illness or psychosocial disability.
- Ability to work and proceed with minimal supervision.
- Ability to communicate effectively in written & verbal communication.
- Ability to apply common sense in dealing with everyday work practices.
- Confidence to successfully work with and motivate a team.
- Green card/White card (where required).
- Current Australian Driver’s Licence.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of the challenges and barriers people who live with mental health issues may face in trying to join the workplace will be highly regarded.
- A carer role or a personal lived experience of a mental health issue will be highly regarded.
