Our positions in Broken Hill
Peer Worker and Mental Health Worker roles:
As a Peer Worker or Mental Health Worker, you will support people accessing our services who have a lived experience of mental health challenges to achieve their hopes and dreams. You will play an important part in assisting people to maintain wellness and realise their goals.
The difference between a Mental Health Worker and a Peer Worker at Flourish Australia is that a Peer Worker is required to use their Lived Experience of a mental health challenge and personal recovery openly, appropriately and effectively to build professional relationships with the people they are supporting. It is not a requirement for Mental Health Workers to use their lived experience of a mental health challenge in their everyday work.
Selection Criteria
- Certificate IV or above in a relevant field OR a minimum of 2-years full-time experience working in the human services field (as recognised by Flourish Australia)
- A strong commitment to recovery-based practice in the workplace.
- A personal lived experience of a mental health challenge and recovery.
- Understanding of the challenges faced by people with a lived experience of a mental health challenge.
- Understanding of, and ability to effectively use, Microsoft Office and knowledge of data information management systems.
- A current Australian Driver’s Licence.
Youth Access Clinician Roles:
The headspace Youth Access Clinician delivers integrated, person-led health care to support the wellbeing and recovery of young people, their families and the wider community. Working closely and collaboratively with other members of the headspace team, headspace Youth Access Clinicians ensure all activities are in accordance with the operational and business model of the service and directions provided by the Clinical and Operations Manager or delegate and other relevant stakeholders. headspace Youth Access Clinicians are also responsible for ensuring clinical and administrative procedures are followed.
headspace is the National Youth Mental Health Foundation supporting young people aged 12-25 years with their mental & general health care needs. At headspace we provide young people with the opportunity to seek help early by bringing local health services under the one roof, making it easier for young people and their families to find the information they need.

Selection Criteria
Essential:
- Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Nursing, Occupational Therapy or other allied health discipline recognised by the tertiary mental health services sector.
- Current or provisional registration (or eligibility) with the appropriate professional body (e.g. AHPRA, AASW, OTA, PACFA).
- Demonstrated experience in providing mental health care to young people (and their families/carers), including care coordination, mental health assessments, risk assessments and crisis intervention, and brief interventions.
- Knowledge of recovery focused and family inclusive practice, as well as understanding the needs of young people from diverse backgrounds.
- Have a basic understanding and/or knowledge of the concept and impact of mental health issues in the community.
All appointments with Flourish Australia's Mental Health Services are subject to an NDIS Worker Screening clearance, a National Criminal History Check, a WWCC, previous employment reference checks, satisfactory Australian residency status and other background checks. All successful applicants will be required to declare any private or secondary employment prior to commencement in line with Flourish Australia's Private or Secondary Employment Policy.
